Hace poco nos dejaba Saramago. Como suele ocurrir cuando muere alguien que aprecias, de cualquiera de las maneras, paseas durante un tiempo por el camino compartido. Ya hace años que él y otros vienen llamando nuestra atención sobre esta gran mentira que nos venden y muchas veces compramos.

También él llamó nuestra atención en Córdoba cuando, al inaugurar el encuentro de economía solidaria, comentaba que echaba de menos escuchar voces que hablasen de la recuperación de la democracia secuestrada, siendo ese un encuentro de economía alternativa y solidaria.
Son verdades que golpean nuestras neuronas. Los organismos creados para controlar mundialmente la economía no son para nada democráticos. Instrumentos como el FMI y el Banco Mundial, que han fracasado estrepitosamente en su cometido, se mantienen como estaban, lejos de corregir sus errores para que no vuelva a ocurrir. Es inconcebible, más cuando siguen dictando la suerte de muchos países.
FMI: «Sus estatutos declaran como objetivos principales la promoción de políticas cambiarias sostenibles a nivel internacional, facilitar el comercio internacional y reducir la pobreza»
Banco Mundial: «es uno de los organismos especializados de las Naciones Unidas, que se define como una fuente de asistencia financiera y técnica para los llamados países en desarrollo. Su propósito declarado es reducir la pobreza mediante préstamos de bajo interés, créditos sin intereses a nivel bancario y apoyos económicos a las naciones en desarrollo»
Los que llevamos años trabajando por otra economía y que cada vez vamos adquiriendo más consciencia del entramado macro-económico, el que pone trabas de todo tipo a un cambio del sistema, es hora que comencemos a poner pensamiento para cambiar esta gran mentira. No podemos hablar de una nueva economía si al empoderar al ciudadano no lo hacemos desde unas estructuras democráticas y participativas. Suenan demasiados proyectos que naciendo en el seno del tercer sector repiten esquemas de mercado donde, por ejemplo, al inversor no se le facilita su acción crítica, o al consumidor se le relega de su responsabilidad como propietario de su decisión última en el acto del consumo, etc. Son muchas las predisposiciones a dar a la ciudadanía las decisiones tomadas desde estructuras que trabajan enarbolando la bandera de una gestión democrática.
Tenemos todos la obligación de plantearnos la recuperación de una democracia secuestrada y amputada, como dice Saramago.
